Lead vs. Tungsten - What’s the deal?

Why use tungsten over lead? Lead has been the standard in tackle manufacturing for years due to how easy it is to manufacture, as well as its cost effectiveness. Lead is a soft moderately dense metal that can be conformed to any shape with little persuasion.

Tungsten on the other hand is rather complicated to manufacture and much more costly. So why use it?

Tungsten is an extremely dense metal with an incredibly high melting point. This makes it almost impossible to change shape during impact or temperature changes, resulting in less chipping and deformity. The density of tungsten also gives the angler a much more sensitive bait because it picks up vibration much easier than its lead competitors, as well as offering the same weights in smaller head sizes.

It is a no-brainer to us. If a bait is made to be on the bottom, it’s tungsten jigs or bust!
